  • Did you know that in order to graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma, a student must pass a level three Foreign Language Regents exam?  Students not taking this Regents exam, however, may still be awarded an Advanced Regents Diploma by completing a five-unit Business Education Sequence!

  • College Accounting [Full-Year Course]. College Accounting is designed to provide students with an overview of the complete accounting cycle.   Students are introduced to automated accounting through hands-on applications using the computer and general ledger software. Students acquire the skills necessary to record transactions, prepare financial statements, and record the decisions made by management. Accounting practices and principles are taught for the three major forms of business organizations. Juniors and seniors are eligible to earn six college credits from C. W. Post University.
  • College Marketing [Full-Year Course]. Tap into your creative mind and enhance your business management skills by enrolling in College Marketing. The fall semester focuses on business ownership and management.  Students acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to open and run a successful business. The spring semester gives students insight into how to create, market, and sell a product to consumers. Juniors and seniors are eligible to earn six college credits from C. W. Post University.
  • Business Law [Full-Year Course]. In Business Law, you will learn and apply the fundamental principles of law that involve an individual’s personal and occupational life. With the use of the Internet, presentations from guest speakers, courtroom field observations and in-class mock trials and video cases, students will explore legal issues pertaining to contract law, crimes, torts, warranties, agents, landlord/tenant, court procedures, contract law, and corporate law. Juniors and seniors are eligible to earn three college credits from C. W. Post University.
  • Computer Applications [Full-Year Course]. Students completing Computer Applications will have extensive training in Excel, Access, PowerPoint as well as Microsoft Publisher where they will learn how to create flyers, newsletters, letterhead, business cards, etc.  Students in grades 9, 11, and 12 are eligible to earn three college credits from C. W. Post University.
  • Web Page Design [Full-Year Course]. Want to learn how to design web pages?  Want to learn how to add pizzazz to your web site through animation?  Then the Web Page Design course is for you.  In this course students will not only learn the HTML scripting language and Dreamweaver, but they will also learn the animation software FLASH!  Students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 are eligible to earn three college credits from C. W. Post University.
  • Personal Finance [Half-Year Course]. This course is created specifically for juniors and seniors. All juniors and seniors are strongly urged to complete this course prior to graduating. The primary purpose of this course is to help students achieve future financial stability. Topics include budgeting and saving money for the future, how to get money for college, banking services, using credit wisely, purchasing insurance, buying vs. leasing a car, renting an apartment, plus additional much-needed topics.
  • Keyboarding/Internet [Full-Year Course]. Keyboarding is designed as an entry-level word processing course utilizing Microsoft Word. Students will learn proper keyboarding techniques and the formatting of documents including letters, memos, tables, résumés, term papers, bibliographies, table of contents, endnotes, footnotes, etc. Additionally, Internet safety for teens such as cyber bullying, cyber stalking, social networks, identity theft, and other Internet-related issues will be covered. Students in Grade 8 are eligible to take this course and receive high school credit.
  • Career and Financial Management [Half-Year Course]. Explore various career options, how to choose a career and to be successful in that chosen career. Career and Financial Management also teaches personal finance management including banking, investments, credit, insurance, and personal budgeting. This is a required course for students pursuing a 5-unit business sequence.
  • Business Communications [Half-Year Course]. This course emphasizes the importance of verbal and non-verbal communications.  Students develop the writing, speaking, and presentation skills to be a success in any field.   
  • Sports Marketing [Half-Year Course]. Ever wonder why fans and businesses spend billions of dollars each year on sports and entertainment? This one-semester course is designed to teach students about products and services in sports, sports media including radio, television, and print, stadium design and concession stands as well as entertainment.
  • Entertainment Marketing [Half-Year Course].  This course is designed to explore the exciting world of travel, tourism, music, theater, and restaurants. Students will also examine careers in entertainment and marketing.

  • Entrepreneurship [Full-Year Course]. In Entrepreneurship, students learn how the Internet has influenced the success and failures of many businesses. They also learn the differences between operating a business in the traditional way versus running a business via the Internet. Students create an electronic résumé and learn the importance of internet security. Students develop business goals, create a business plan, develop advertising strategies, design a website for a company of their choice and critique their competitor’s websites.
