The  Cheerleading Squad of Carey High School promotes school spirit while they lead the fans in cheers and chants during football and basketball games. The Cheerleading team is almost all of the time together. Without even knowing it you make the best friends that you will ever have. Its like having 17 other sisters!

WHO CAN JOIN? PRACTICES CAMP

Who Can Join the  Cheerleading Squad?

The  Cheerleading Squad generally consists of all of those who are interested. Students interested in joining the squad must tryout during the spring tryout sessions. When tryout sessions are approaching, signs are posted throughout the building and announcements are made each morning during Alert.

Varsity Cheerleading Practices

Throughout the school year, Cheerleaders practice once a week and sometimes more when football and basketball is in session. Practice sessions are held  on Wednesday and Saturdays before games. During the summer months, there are occasional practices once a week and the squad participates in cheerleading camp.

What is Cheerleading camp and what is it like?

The cheerleading team participates in a NCA camp which stands for National Cheerleading Association. The camp is held 3 days in August. The team practices all day and if the team prefers and you live close enough to home you could commute, otherwise you dorm at the camp.

Camp is usually the first time that the whole team is together after spring tryouts for the first time. While at camp the girls learn to work as a team and build confidence and trust in not only each other but themselves too. The squad learns new cheers, stunts, dances and strives to be the camp champs.
