Admission to the Honor Society is an honor given to students. Based on an overall average of 90, 11th and 12th graders are eligble to apply for membership. Each student will be considered based on scholarship, leadership and community service. It is an award to recognize the combination of outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service. In fact, by National norms, students are not allowed to apply for membership. They are not supposed to solicit or ambition membership. Neither students, faculty members, or parents are permitted to take the initiative by lobbying for the admission of a particular student. Those who qualify will be considered, and those elected will be "tapped" for membership. The idea is that students study to learn, and do service to help others; it is a perversion of this idea when students study for grades or do service to gain admission to the Honor Society.
